The Monevis news trading rule determines whether traders can freely open and close positions during major news events listed on ForexFactory.com.
The Simple Answer
Monevis has one account type which is the 2-Step Challenge. In this account, news trading is allowed in both challenge steps (step 1 and step 2).
However, it is restricted once you’re funded.
2 Step Challenge
Stage | News Trading Allowed? |
---|---|
Step 1 (Challenge) | Yes |
Step 2 (Challenge) | Yes |
Funded Account | No |
News Trading Restrictions
The only restrictions on news trading at Monevis apply when you’ve passed both phases of the challenge and are trading in a funded account.
You are restricted from opening or closing positions 2 minutes before and 2 minutes after a news event.
For example, if a news event occurs at 1:00 PM, you cannot open or close any position from 12:58 PM (2 minutes before) to 1:02 PM (2 minutes after).
This creates a 4-minute window during which you should avoid trading.
After that 4-minute window passes, you can trade freely.
12:58 PM | 1:00 PM | 1:02 PM |
---|---|---|
No Trading Starts | News Event | No Trading Ends |
