How the score is calculated
Every firm on Propvator is scored the same way, by the same method, whether or not we have a commercial relationship with them. This page is that method in full.

The score
A firm's score is the mean of every published review of that firm, on a scale of 1 to 5, shown to one decimal place. Nothing else goes into it.
Every published review counts exactly the same
A review is not weighted by how recent it is, how long it is, how many people found it useful, whether the reviewer has written before, or whether the firm pays us. There is no weighting to apply, so there is nothing for anyone to ask us to change.
What is counted
- Every review that is published on the firm's profile, from 1 star to 5.
- Reviews stay in the score for as long as they are published. Old reviews are not retired, faded out or discounted.
What is not counted
- Reviews that were never published, including drafts and reviews still being checked.
- Reviews removed after a report was upheld, and reviews temporarily withheld while a report alleging illegality is assessed. A report on any other ground leaves the review published, and counted, while we look at it.
- Reviews the author has deleted.
A removal is always for a stated reason under the review guidelines. A review is never removed for being unflattering, and a firm cannot buy a removal.
The count and the period
The number of reviews in the score is shown beside the score on every profile, along with the period those reviews cover. A 4.6 from 40 reviews and a 4.6 from 4,000 are not the same claim, and you should be able to tell them apart without opening anything.
The words beside the number
The word shown next to a firm's score is a plain reading of the number, on fixed bands that are the same for every firm.

An individual star rating uses the same vocabulary: 1 is Bad, 2 is Poor, 3 is Average, 4 is Great and 5 is Excellent. The bands above are finer than that ladder on purpose, because an average of 3.5 is not a 4, and calling it "Great" would flatter the firm at your expense.
What cannot change a score
- Paying Propvator, advertising with us, or being a commercial partner.
- Asking us to take a review down because it is negative.
- Offering traders anything in return for writing, changing or deleting a review.
Firms we have a commercial relationship with are labelled as such on their profile. The label is there so you can weigh it. It has no effect on the number.
When it updates
A score changes the moment a review is published, and again if a review is later removed. It is not recalculated on a schedule, so nothing sits in a queue waiting for a good week.
