FundingPips has specific rules around trading during high-impact news events and weekend holds. These rules are designed to protect both traders and the firm from the extreme volatility that often occurs during news releases.
High-impact news events and speeches are identified on Forex Factory Calendar and are always highlighted in red.

⚠️ Profits from trades opened or closed within 5 minutes before or after a high-impact (red-folder) event will not count, unless the trade was opened at least 5 hours before the event.
For example, if a news event occurs at 1:00 PM, you cannot open or close any position from 12:55 PM (5 minutes before) to 1:05 PM (5 minutes after).
This creates a 10 minute window during which you should avoid trading.
After that 10 minute window passes, you can trade freely.

Zero Master Account
The Zero account has the strictest restrictions:
❌ No news trading.
❌ No news holding.
Trades cannot be opened or held within 10 minutes before or after a high-impact news event or speech.
All trades must be closed before the weekend (weekend holding is prohibited).
⚠️ Any violation results in immediate account termination
Speeches (All Account Types)
For red-folder speeches:
- The restriction window is 5 minutes before the speech begins until 5 minutes after the speech ends.
- Partial closures within the restricted window are also flagged.
- Profits will be removed, and if this causes a daily loss or maximum loss breach, the account will be terminated.
FAQ’s – FundingPips News Trading Rules
1. Can I trade news during the evaluation stage?
No. News trading is strictly prohibited during evaluation. You may hold trades through news events, but you cannot open or close positions within the restricted window.
2. What happens if I accidentally trade during news?
Any profits made within the restricted time window will be removed. If this leads to a breach of the daily or maximum drawdown rule, your account will be terminated.
3. What is the difference between news trading and news holding?
News trading = opening or closing positions during the restricted time window. (❌ Not allowed)
News holding = keeping trades open while news is released, without opening or closing them in the restricted window. (✅ Allowed for Evaluation & Master, ❌ Not allowed for Zero).
4. What counts as a high-impact news event?
Only red-folder events and speeches listed on the ForexFactory.com calendar are considered high-impact.
5. How long is the FundingPips restricted window for news?
Evaluation & Master Accounts (1 Step, 2 Step, Pro): 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after the event (10 minutes total).
Zero Account: 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after the event (20 minutes total).
6. Are speeches treated the same as news events?
Yes. For speeches, the restriction applies from 5 minutes before the speech starts until 5 minutes after it ends.
7. Can I partially close a position during news?
No. Partial closures during the restricted window are treated the same as full closures and will flag your account.
8. Can I hold trades over the weekend?
Allowed: Evaluation, 1 Step, 2 Step, and Pro Master accounts.
Not allowed: Zero Master account (all positions must be closed before the Friday market close)
9. Will my profits be removed if I entered a trade hours before news?
If your trade was opened at least 5 hours before the news, profits will still count even if closed within the restricted window.
10. What is the penalty for intentionally trading news?
Intentional news trading is grounds for immediate account termination under all FundingPips account types.
Final Reminder
Funding Pips does not allow news trading under any account type.
- Evaluation Stage: no trading, holding allowed.
- Master Account: no trading, profits restricted if within 5 minutes of news.
- Zero Account: no trading or holding at all.
