By Friday close I am usually running on fumes, and if the week went badly I am carrying a grudge into the weekend. Neither state makes for a good Monday.
A weekend trading meditation is how I reset before the next week starts. The goal is simple: review the week calmly, and come back on the line instead of on tilt.
The weekend is when the week catches up with you
Two days without a chart sounds like rest. In practice it is often when the week you just had finally lands, especially a rough one.
You replay the misses, you dread the account, you build up a story about the kind of trader you are. That story is what walks into Monday if you let it.
Come back to the line
There is an idea in Best Loser Wins by Tom Hougaard called the line. It is the flat, awake, level state your best decisions come from. Above it you get urgency and greed. Below it you get fear and hesitation.
A rough week drags you below the line, and a hot week pushes you above it. The weekend is your chance to come back to level before you trade again.
You cannot control the week ahead, but you can decide which state you begin it in.
“A rough week drags you below the line. The weekend is where you come back to level.”
Review the week without grading yourself
Look at the week as decisions, not as a verdict on you. Find one trade you would take again exactly as you did, even if it lost. Good decision, bad outcome happens, and it is not a flaw in you.
That reframe matters more than the P&L number. You are reviewing a process over a series of trades, not scoring a person.
Actually rest, do not doom scroll charts
Flow and clear thinking need a distraction free head, and you do not build that by staring at weekend charts and other people’s screenshots.
Give yourself real time off the screens. A short breath meditation on Sunday evening does more for Monday than another six hours of chart hindsight.
An athlete does not skip recovery because it is not the game, and neither should you.
Set up your week on the line
When you want a guided version, the Propvator Focus meditation, Finding The Line, is built for exactly this. Use it Sunday evening to find level before the open.
Overall, a weekend trading meditation is not extra work. It is how you make sure the week that just happened does not get to trade your Monday for you.
Seven guided trading meditations, made around exactly what traders go through, not generic calm. Pick the one that fits your day.
