Legends Trading Weekend Holding Rule
The Simple Answer
No, not on any simulated account. Legends requires every position to be flat before the end of the trading day, and it publishes a liquidation time for each product group. Miss it and your account is failed until you buy a reset or your subscription renews. The single exception sits in the Legends Live programme, where swing trading unlocks only at the Custom Tier. Below that tier Legends states there is no overnight holding at all, and no overnight means no weekend.
Below is a breakdown of how the Legends Trading weekend holding rules apply across different account types and stages.
Breakdown by Account Type
Apprentice accounts
Both stages work the same way on this point. You trade from the market open to one minute before the close, and your positions have to be liquidated before the end of the day. Legends does not distinguish between the evaluation and the funded Master stage here, so the rule that applies while you are proving yourself is the same rule that applies once you are funded.
Elite accounts
Identical treatment. Elite evaluations and Elite Master accounts both sit under the same end of day liquidation regime, across all four sizes from 25K to 150K. There is no weekend allowance at any Elite tier, and no size where the rule loosens.
Legends Live below the Custom Tier
The Live programme is real capital rather than simulation, and it is tiered. Legends is direct about this: before Custom, there is no overnight holding. Because a weekend hold is by definition an overnight hold, weekend positions are out at every tier below Custom, whatever your balance or payout history looks like.
Legends Live at the Custom Tier
This is the only place in the whole Legends structure where holding through a weekend becomes possible. Swing trading unlocks in the Custom Tier, and reaching it takes two things at once: six lifetime payouts and twenty five winning days in Golden. Neither one alone gets you there. It is a long road, and until you are through it you are on the same intraday rule as everyone else.
Session Close and Reopen Times
Futures accounts do not pay swaps, so what matters instead is knowing exactly when you have to be flat and when the market comes back. These are the times that govern that.
Warning System for Weekend Holding Violations
The consequence is not a warning, it is a failure. Legends states that traders who do not manage their positions and liquidate before the end of the day will be failed until they either purchase a reset or their subscription automatically renews. The liquidation times vary by product group, so if you trade both index futures and agricultural futures in the same session you are working to two different deadlines, and the agricultural one comes hours earlier. Set your own alarm rather than relying on the platform to flatten you. Note separately that Legends has disabled CBOT Financials until further notice, and trading them gets you rejected in the Master review.
Final Comments
Weekend gap risk is the reason this rule exists, and it is why almost every futures firm wants you flat before the close on Friday. Treat the auto-close as a backstop rather than a plan, because the firms that offer it are the same firms that tell you not to rely on it.
