Does TX3 Funding Have a Daily Loss Limit?

The Simple Answer

On some accounts, and it is a soft breach everywhere it applies. Type X has one at 2.5 percent on the 50K, 100K and 150K but not the 25K. SX has one only on the funded 50K. GTX Redline has none at all, in either phase. Hitting it locks trading for the rest of the day rather than failing the account.

Breakdown by Account Type

Type X

Type X is the instant funded model and the one where the daily limit is most widely applied. A 2.5 percent daily loss limit applies to the 50K, 100K and 150K accounts. The 25K account has none. Underneath it sits a 4 percent maximum drawdown on every size, which is $1,000 on a 25K, $2,000 on a 50K, $4,000 on a 100K and $6,000 on a 150K.

SX

SX splits it by phase and by size. During the evaluation there is no daily loss limit on any account, only the maximum drawdown, which is 4 percent on the 50K and 3 percent on the 100K and 150K. Once funded, a 2.5 percent daily loss limit applies to the 50K account only; the 100K and 150K funded accounts still have none.

GTX Redline

Redline has no daily loss limit anywhere, in the evaluation or on the funded account. The maximum drawdown is 4 percent across all sizes during the evaluation, and on the funded account it is 4 percent on the 50K and 3 percent on the 100K and 150K. Redline also allows overnight holding, so positions do not have to be closed before the market closes, which makes it the most permissive of the three TX3 models.

What a soft breach means here

TX3 uses the term consistently across all three models: reaching the daily loss limit locks trading for the remainder of that day rather than failing the account, and you resume the following session. So on the accounts that have one, the limit costs you the day, not the account.

Final Comments

The maximum drawdown on every TX3 model uses end-of-day trailing. It trails your end-of-day balance upward as the account grows and stops trailing once it reaches your starting balance, so past that point you cannot be stopped out by giving back profit alone.

A daily loss limit is the rule most traders breach first, usually on a day they were already losing. Know your number before the session starts, and check it against your own platform rather than assuming the firm will stop you in time.
