If you only ever learn one trading meditation, make it this one. Breath awareness. No app, no posture, no incense.
You put your attention on your breath and you count to ten. That is the whole thing, and it is genuinely enough.
The method, start to finish
Sit comfortably. Breathe normally, do not force it. Count each out breath: one, two, on up to ten, then start again at one.
Ten should land on an out breath. If ten arrives on an in breath, or you find yourself at seventeen, you drifted somewhere back there.
Drifting is not failing
This is the part people get wrong. They lose count, decide they are bad at it, and quit.
But noticing you drifted is the rep. The whole exercise is the wander and the return. A mind that never wandered would be getting no reps at all.
You are not training a blank mind, you are training the catch and the return to the breath.
“The simplest trading meditation is one breath, counted to ten, again and again.”
Why this helps a trader specifically
Trading is one long exercise in noticing where your attention went and bringing it back. Off the chart onto the P and L, off the plan onto the fear. Same muscle.
Practise the catch on your breath for 5 minutes a morning and you get quicker at catching it live, when it is your account on the line. That is what makes this simple trading meditation worth the time.
It works outside the session too
Once you know the feel of it, you can use the breath anywhere. Feeling the pull to overtrade, count a few out breaths right there at the desk.
It grounds you, collects your thoughts, and buys a beat before you act. No formal session required.
Where to start
This is exactly what our Breath meditation, The Count, is built to train. Counting to ten with a little guidance until it is second nature.
Start there for a week, then try it silent. You will not need the voice for long.
Seven guided trading meditations, made around exactly what traders go through, not generic calm. Pick the one that fits your day.
