We talk about fear and greed like they are two different problems. In my experience they are the same machinery pulling you off center in opposite directions.
A trading meditation helps because it does not target fear or greed directly. It trains you to notice when you have left the calm middle, and to find your way back.
Same engine, two directions
Greed pushes you above the calm middle into urgency: size up, hold too long, take the trade that is not there.
Fear pulls you below it into hesitation: skip the good setup, cut the winner early, freeze at the trigger. Same arousal, opposite tilt.
The line you are trying to hold
Tom Hougaard writes about the line in Best Loser Wins. It is the flat, awake, level state your best decisions come from.
Above the line is urgency and greed. Below it is fear and hesitation. Good trading is not about never feeling anything. It is about noticing you have drifted off the line and coming back to it.
You will drift above or below the line all day. The skill is the return, not staying perfectly still.
“Fear and greed are the same wave tilting you opposite ways. The job is finding the line again.”
Train the return, not the absence
You cannot promise yourself you will feel nothing when real money moves. That is not the goal.
Instead a trading meditation raises the feeling on purpose in a calm setting, then practises the way back to level, until the return is automatic. In practice, that trained return is what people mistake for being naturally calm.
A daily rep for the line
Notice where you are before each decision. Am I above the line reaching for it, or below it flinching away from it? Then breathe and come back to center.
If you want a guided rep for this, our Focus meditation, Finding The Line, is built around exactly that state. A few minutes of it before the open makes the middle easier to find when it matters.
Seven guided trading meditations, made around exactly what traders go through, not generic calm. Pick the one that fits your day.

They come from the same arousal pulling you off your calm center. Greed tips you above it into urgency, fear tips you below it into hesitation. A trading meditation trains the return to the middle rather than fighting each one separately.
It is a term from Best Loser Wins by Tom Hougaard for the flat, awake, level state your best decisions come from. Above it is greed, below it is fear.
No, and that is not the aim. It makes you aware of the drift and trains the return to center, which is what actually protects your decisions.
