One trade should not bleed into the next. Yet after a loss you carry the sting straight into the following setup, and after a win you carry the buzz. Both wreck the next decision.
A three minute trading meditation between trades is how you wipe the slate. Short, on purpose, before you even think about the next entry.
Why the last trade poisons the next one
The last result leaves a residue. A loss makes you tight or out for revenge, a win makes you loose and careless.
Either way you are no longer neutral, and neutral is exactly what the next decision needs. Reset first, decide second.
The three minute reset
Keep this trading meditation dead simple. Sit back, take your hands off the mouse, and lengthen your exhales for a minute or two until your body settles.
Then let the last trade go before you look for the next one. You are not analysing, you are just clearing the charge so you come to the next setup level.
Reset your body between trades so the last result does not silently pick your next one.
“Any single trade is close to random. Your edge shows up over the series, not the one result.”
Judge the process, not the single result
Here is the mindset that makes the reset stick. Any one trade is close to random. Your edge only shows across a series, not in a single outcome.
So do not judge the last trade by whether it won. Ask whether it was a decision you would make again with the same setup, size, and reasoning. A good decision can still lose, and that is fine.
Catch the outcome bias trap
Outcome bias is judging a decision purely by its result. It is how a perfectly good trade that happened to lose talks you into changing everything.
The reset is where you catch it. If the last trade was sound and simply did not work, you take the next one the same way. If it was a genuine mistake, you note it and still come to the next one calm.
Turn the reset into patience
The between trades reset is really a patience skill. Waiting for the right setup, without forcing one out of restlessness, is part of the job, not a break from it.
If you want to train that directly, our Patience meditation, Doing Nothing, is built for exactly this, sitting through the gap so the next trade is a choice, not a reaction.
Seven guided trading meditations, made around exactly what traders go through, not generic calm. Pick the one that fits your day.
Frequently asked questions
Take a short trading meditation of two or three minutes. Hands off the mouse, lengthen your exhales, let the last trade go, and only then look for the next setup.
The result leaves a charge. A loss makes you tight or vengeful, a win makes you careless. Resetting clears that charge so the next decision starts neutral.
Think in a series, not one outcome. Ask if you would take the same trade again with the same setup and reasoning. A good decision can lose, and that is normal.
