Revenge trading is the most costly mistake I have made, and I do not think I am alone. It is anger with a login. You are not trading a setup, you are trying to avenge the loss.
This is where a trading meditation earns its place. It will not delete the anger, but it makes you aware of it in the moment, and that awareness is the only thing that stops the spiral.
What revenge trading really is
You take a loss and something flips. Now you want it back, and you want it back from the market that took it.
So you size up, or you take five trades in ten minutes, or you put on one big one to settle the score. That is not a strategy. That is anger avenging a loss, and it turns one red trade into a blown account.
It did not take anything from you, so there is nothing to win back and no one to beat.
Catch the spiral before it has speed
The spiral is fastest at the start. The earlier you notice the heat rising, the easier it is to interrupt.
So learn the tells: tight jaw, faster clicking, a sudden certainty about the next trade. Naming it out loud, this is anger, not analysis, breaks the trance just enough.
“Revenge trading is anger with a login. There is no score to settle and no one on the other side.”
The move that actually works: close the charts
A few deep breaths, longer on the exhale, will start to bring you down. But the single best thing you can do is close the charts and walk away for the day.
The hard part is the impulse control to actually do it. That is why I meditate in the morning: I am training the decision before I need it, so walking away is not a battle I have to win from behind.
Make tomorrow real before you click
Anger only sees this second. So picture opening the platform tomorrow with one ordinary loss on the account, versus opening it to a huge hole you dug in ten furious minutes.
That future picture restores the right weighting fast. When you feel that pull to get even, this is the moment to open our Revenge Trading meditation. It is built to interrupt the spiral, name the anger, and get you to close the charts before one loss becomes the whole account.
Seven guided trading meditations, made around exactly what traders go through, not generic calm. Pick the one that fits your day.
Frequently asked questions
It is trading to win back a loss out of anger, usually by oversizing or taking a burst of trades right after a red one. It is one of the costliest mistakes in trading because it turns a small loss into a big one.
Catch the anger early, take a few longer exhales, and close the charts for the day. A trading meditation, especially a scenario one for revenge trading, trains the interrupt so you can actually walk away instead of clicking.
Because it removes risk management at the exact moment you feel most certain. The size goes up, the plan goes out, and one loss can become a blown account in minutes.
